Hearing Colors (2022) is a special exhibition at the Yaacov Agam Museum that explored the connection between sound, form, and color.
For this exhibition, musician Aviad Zinemanas created sound works that interact with Agam’s art, forming a unified sensory experience. Sound was always central to Agam’s work. Alongside his visual art, Agam composed music, often describing his pieces in musical terms.

The exhibition begins outside, where Zinemanas created sounds that accompany Agam’s colorful Columns, echoing tones from his Fire and Water Fountain. As visitors enter the museum and ascend the ramp, the vibrant visuals soften, mirrored by a quieter soundscape. Inside, monochromatic works from Agam’s Espace series (1973) shift the focus from color to sound, inviting visitors to listen to color in a new way.
